Matthew 6:15 But if you do not forgive their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
The more I study, the more I discover how dangerous unforgiveness and bitterness is. Forgiveness of God is the first and foremost Benefit for the born again believer in Christ. Unforgiveness in us robs us of God’s Forgiveness toward us. Jesus said so: But if you do not forgive their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:15)
The following is the Commentary written by Jimmy Swaggart on this Verse of Scripture: If we want God to forgive us, we must at the same time forgive others; if not, His forgiveness for us is withheld; consequently, such a person is in jeopardy of losing their soul.
In the Book of Hebrews we read: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the Grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. (Hebrews 12:15)
Jesus also said: Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6:38) God is able to give us all things Good. He wants to give to us but we must FIRST give that which we want for ourselves, away to others. Jesus did NOT say that God would give us things so we can in turn give them away.
This Passage does refer to material things and money but it also refers to the Fruit of the Spirit and ALL the Benefits of the born again believer and the Forgiveness of God is at the very top of that list. The Word of God is TRUTH. God says what He means and He means what He says. He does not make exceptions. He is not partial to anyone. When Jesus said, But if you do not forgive their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:38) He meant it.
Without the Forgiveness of God, one cannot be saved and born again. Therefore, they are spiritually lost. Unforgiveness and bitterness WILL rob you of your salvation. Remember, bitterness is an evil spirit that takes up residency in our spirit and puts down a root that grows deeper and deeper. The Word of God calls this the root of bitterness and it WILL result in sickness, disease and death both physical and spiritual.
Don’t be deceived by the devil. Yes, you have been hurt. We all have. Yes, you have reason to be angry BUT is it worth being sick and losing your soul over? No. Give the situation to God. He WILL handle it. He WILL do what you can’t do. Trust Him. He will keep His Promise. Vengeance is mine, says the Lord. I will repay. (Hebrews 10:30)
Trust God. Only He can ……….turn the tide
Trusting Him in every situation, Doreen
