Matthew 12:31 Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.

 

Yesterday, we discussed the difference between speaking in tongues as one’s own prayer language and the Spiritual Gift of Tongues. This is a subject many believers do not understand and so they discount tongues completely. That is a shame and could be dangerous.

 

Some denominations believe and teach that speaking in tongues is not of God. I must say that I see that stance as bordering on blasphemy of the Holy Spirit which we all know is the only unforgivable sin. Jesus said, Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. (Matthew 12:31)

 

I had a long discussion about this with my Pastor many years ago. He was a Southern Baptist and was not filled with the Holy Spirit. He did not have a prayer language BUT he did not discount it. He respected those who did and NEVER said tongues was not of God. This man sought the Holy Spirit of God but he was so indoctrinated in the denominational beliefs he never received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. However, he did allow the Spirit to move and operate in his church through other people which is a rarity to be sure.

 

God makes things easy to understand. Everything is black and white. Sin is sin, period. There are only two types of people: saved and unsaved. There are only two types of Angels: Righteous Angels and fallen angels. There is no riding the fence in God’s eyes.

 

Likewise, everything has a spiritual origin. There are only two types of spirits: Righteous and unrighteous; good and evil. Good, Righteous spirits are from God. Evil, unrighteous spirits are from the Devil; Satan.

 

Therefore, anyone who believes Tongues (one’s prayer language or the Gift of Tongues) is not of God must believe it is from the Devil. There is no other source of origin. Please think about that carefully because when we believe something is from the Devil that is blasphemy.

 

The definition of blasphemy is: the act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things, synonymous with irreverence and disrespect of God or Christ. Having an evil origin; of the Devil.

 

Matthew, Mark, and Luke all record the Words of Jesus on this subject: Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.

(Matthew 12:31)

 

Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they ay utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation because they said He has an unclean spirit. (Mark 3:28-30)

 

And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven. (Luke 12:10)

 

My friends, this is an extremely serious subject. I suggest you take it seriously; very seriously.
