Blessed Nation

Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,

One does not have to travel far from the shores of the United States to discover that America is different from other countries around the world. Why have we prospered so much in such a short period of time? Why do we have some of the most intellectual people in all the world? Why do we have an endless supply of natural resources? Why do we have the most fertile farmland in the world? The questions are endless but the answer is the same.

All that America is and has is not due to happenstance or coincidence. Nor is it due to millions of hard-working Americans who have labored over back-breaking work. America is what she is because she has been blessed by God.

Why has God chosen America? Because the Word of God says, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.  Jesus has been Lord of this nation since its founding. Our Founding Fathers understood the Word of God and believed it and set out to fulfill the Word of God in every aspect of our culture and government.

Some sixty years after the founding of our nation, at the request of the people, Congress did an investigation of the full meaning of the First Amendment in regard to religion. On March 27, 1854, James Meacham of Vermont, the head of the House Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement: Had the people, during the Revolution, had a suspicion of any attempt to war against Christianity, that Revolution would have been strangled in its cradle.  At the time of the adoption of the Constitution and the Amendments, the universal sentiment was that Christianity should be encouraged, not any one sect. Any attempt to level and discard all religion would have been viewed with universal indignation. The object was not to substitute Judaism or Mohammedanism, or infidelity, but to prevent rivalry among sects to the exclusion of others...It must be considered as the foundation on which the whole structure rests.

This statement says it all. It was not the intention of our Founding Fathers for any other religion to be a substitute for Christianity. It was their intent for Christianity to be encouraged.  There is a war in America today over Christianity.  The Nation of Islam and other cults are at war against Christianity on our own soil and as James Meacham said, we must strangle it.

Some Americans don’t believe the intentions of our Founding Fathers are pertinent for life in America today. THEY ARE WRONG! We will go into this in detail tomorrow, but for today let us stand on the Word of God in Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,

Jesus is Lord in America. He always has been and He must remain. The only way for Jesus to be Lord is for Americans to lift up His Name and live by His Commandments. Let us lift up His Name once again in the streets of America and let our conduct be a reflection of His Word!

When America turns back to Him, He will……..turn the tide

In the Name of Jesus,      Doreen
