Blessed To Be Used By God

Acts 9:35 And all who dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

The Lord used Peter to bring about the Healing of Aeneas. From the way Luke recorded this Miracle, it seems that Peter didn’t even touch Aeneas. He simply spoke to him. And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ makes you whole: Arise, and make your bed. And he arose immediately. (Acts 9:34)

The Healing of Aeneas was not just about him. In the next Verse we read that everyone in Lydda and Saron (a neighboring town) turned their hearts toward Jesus because of this Miracle. The Bible doesn’t give us many details about Aeneas, but historians claim that he was a well-respected man in that area. He may have been a man of wealth and high position because everyone seemed to know him.

His lengthy illness was known by all as well. The illness of palsy had caused him to be bedridden for eight years and everyone in town knew it. But, God would use this man to bring many people to faith in Christ through his healing!

In those days, it was believed that sickness and disease were caused by sin. This is why Jesus not only Healed people of their infirmities but also Forgave them of their sins. When Peter told Aeneas that Jesus Christ made him whole, this included his Forgiveness as well as his Healing.

This Miracle happened to increase the Kingdom of God. Actually, all Miracles happen to increase the Kingdom of God. Every Miracle Jesus performed during His Ministry on earth was to prove Who He was: the Son of the Living God which would make Him the Perfect Sacrifice for the sins of mankind.

Peter understood that his Ministry was to speak the Name of Jesus and proclaim His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary to anyone and everyone who would listen. It is the same today. Anyone Called into the Ministry today is to do exactly what Peter did: speak the Name of Jesus and be an instrument used by God to perform Miracles.

Miracles get people’s attention. When they witness a Miracle, they believe. God has always used supernatural happenings to draw people to Himself and receive Salvation. It took a Miracle to draw the people of Lydda and Saron to faith in Christ. God allowed this well known man (Aeneas) to be stricken with palsy and lay in bed for eight years so that hundreds of people would be saved.

After eight long years of suffering, Peter spoke the Name of Jesus Christ over Aeneas and declared that he had been made whole. He was Healed! He got up out of bed and all who dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord. (Acts 9:35)

God has a Plan and He uses people to bring it to fruition. Are you willing to be used by Him?

He uses people to…..…….turn the tide

Blessed to be used by Him!         Doreen
