John 1:17 For the Law was given by Moses, but Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ.

What is the Grace of God? Theologians have written articles, papers, commentaries, and whole books on the subject of Grace. One man said that Grace is the Goodness of God bestowed on undeserving people. True. Another said that Grace is the Enabling Power of God to those who believe. True.

John Piper said that Grace is not simply leniency when we have sinned. Grace is the enabling Gift of God not to sin. Grace is Power, not just pardon. True.

Martin Luther said that the Law works fear and wrath; Grace works Hope and Mercy. True. John Newton said, I am not what I ought to be. I am not what I want to be. I am not what I hope to be. But still, I am not what I used to be. And by the Grace of God, I am what I am. True.

Alister McGrath said that within each of us exists the Image of God, however disfigured and corrupted by sin it might presently be. God is able to recover this image through Grace as we are conformed to Christ. True.

Jonathan Edwards said that Grace is but Glory begun, and Glory is but Grace perfected. True. Matthew Henry said that Grace is the free, undeserved Goodness and Favor of God to mankind. True. Joni Tada said that God doesn’t just give us Grace; He gives us Jesus, the Lord of Grace. True.

There are literally hundreds of quotes about the Grace of God. The fact is that without faith in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified, there is no Grace of God. People who reject the Finished Work of Christ do not receive the Grace of God. Yes, the Holy Spirit will continue to draw them to Salvation but until they place their faith squarely in Who Jesus is, What Jesus did on the Cross, and the fact that Jesus rose from the dead and is alive today sitting at the Right Hand of the Father in Heaven, they will not know the Benefits of the Grace of God.

Of all the quotes I have read on the Grace of God, A.W. Tozer’s is one of the most powerful. He said, “The Cross is the lightning rod of Grace that short-circuited God’s wrath to Christ so that only the light of His Love remains for believers.“

Ministers who take the Cross out of the equation are false teachers. Without the Cross of Christ, there is no Grace.

Jesus went to the Cross to……….turn the tide……….in your life.
