Colossians 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
Yesterday, we discussed one of the most powerful warnings in the Word of God. It is found in 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good character. The Apostle Paul gave us this warning and we would be wise to adhere to it.
Jesus told us that Satan’s goal is to rob us of our faith, corrupt our morals, and eventually kill us. The thief comes but to kill, steal, and destroy. (John 10:10) These Words of Jesus are also a warning to us. If we know that this is the plan of our enemy, then we must seek the escape. Jesus gave us that too. I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)
In Paul’s letter to the Colossians, he warned them about this too. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. (Colossians 2:8)
The fact is, the enemy is a liar and he wants to destroy God’s people. We have a choice. We can listen to the lies of Satan and follow his evil path or we can hear the True Word of God and take the high road which leads to Heaven.
Jesus talked about this too in His Sermon on the Mount. Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)
Every person must make this choice for themselves. It is a personal decision. No one can make this choice for someone else. We can pray for people and ask the Holy Spirit to guide them to the narrow road. We can speak to people and offer our help but in the end, everyone must decide for themselves which road they will take in life.
Which road are you on? Are you headed for destruction and death or have you chosen the narrow road that leads to life? If you find yourself at the crossroads of life, choose the narrow road. Choose Christ! He is the Gate that leads to Abundant Life here on earth and Everlasting Life in Heaven.
Choose Christ. He will…...….turn the tide……..in your life.
On the narrow road, Doreen
