Acts 3:22-26 For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ Yes, and all the Prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days. You are sons of the Prophets, and of the Covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”
Peter concluded his sermon by reminding the Temple goers who they were and what they SHOULD know. They had heard their whole lives about the coming Messiah. From the time of Moses and down through all the Prophets, His coming had been foretold.
He reminded them of the first Prophet, Samuel, and through all that followed, they prophesied of the coming Messiah. These people had memorized the Words of the Prophets, and yet when their Prophecies actually came to pass, they refused to believe.
How many Christians today have memorized many Scriptures, but fail to really believe the Word as the standard for their daily life? How many truly believe the Lord is coming back? How many trust that the Rapture of the Church is at hand and the Prophecies are playing out right before our eyes?
Life as a born-again believer is not just about memorizing the Bible and going to church every week. It's a lifestyle based on the Word of God and a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It's wanting to live a life pleasing to God.
Peter used this opportunity to cause the people to recall the fact that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people. Anyone who rejects Christ will be eternally lost.
He also reminded them that they were sons of the Prophets, and of the Covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
Peter concluded his sermon by telling them that God sent Jesus to them first because they were His chosen people. If anyone should have recognized Jesus as the Son of God, the Messiah, it should have been them.
Never reject the Son of God, the Messiah. He came the first time as a peasant, but He is coming back as a King! It has all been prophesied, and it will ALL happen. That, my friends, you can take to the bank.
The Word of God will……..turn the tide.........in your life.
Loving the Word, Doreen
