Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
A house full of closets has lots of room for storage but no space for living. Jesus came that we may live an abundant life here on earth. Abundant life is not life spent in dark closets of sin and torment. This is Satan’s plan for our lives. His goal is to steal, kill, and destroy the abundant life Jesus came for us to enjoy.
From the example we posed yesterday, I hope you can see how sin closets form, grow, and interconnect. One closet leads to another and then another until we find ourselves actually living in a maze of sin closets in our house.
These closets seem impossible to escape from, But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
The key to being released from the locked doors of sin closets is repentance. We must first admit we are trapped by sin, and we must take it to the Lord, asking for forgiveness. This is an act of humility. The Holy Spirit is the Great Physician, Teacher, Healer, Counselor, and Guide. When we finally come to that place where we cannot exist another day living in the closets, and fall on our face before God seeking His forgiveness, the door to that closet will open wide and the Light of Jesus will pour in, and we can freely walk out.
Jesus died on the Cross of Calvary for every sin of every person who has ever lived. That’s a lot of sin. He took a beating for my sin and your sin. They crucified Him on the Cross for sins He never committed. He gave Himself as a Sacrifice so we don’t have to spend our lives in dark, sin closets.
Are you living in a maze of sin closets? Do you go from one closet to another without stepping out into the Light? Are these closets growing in size and number every day? You can put a stop to it all today. Today, you can begin the demolition process of the sin closets in your house.
As each one is torn down and demolished, you gain that much more open concept living area to facilitate the abundant life Jesus died for you to enjoy.
Give Jesus a try. He and the Holy Spirit can do what you have not been able to do. They are the best demolition team when it comes to sin closets! Actually, they are the ONLY demolition team!
