1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
The Body of Christ is not to love the world or the things of the world. Anyone who loves the things of this world, the love of the Father is not in him. This is easy to understand, yet at times, difficult to do.
To walk in the Will of God is to cast aside all that is worldly. This does not mean we hate all people who are not Christians. On the contrary, we are to love all people no matter their spiritual condition. However, the Word of God tells us not to participate in the activities they embrace.
What we see in the church today is exactly that. Christians are not only participating in worldly activities, they are inviting it inside their houses of worship. This is a travesty! Is the Church supposed to look like the rest of the world? Are Christians supposed to dress like, act like, and talk like people we see at the mall? Does the world and all its evils belong inside the church?
Some would argue that to reach the world, you must look like the world. I don’t agree with that at all. Jesus attracted people because He was different. Lost and hurting people are not seeking more of the same; they are seeking something very different. They seek help because what they are doing is not resulting in joy, happiness, and peace in their lives.
Satan sucks people into his world with smoke and mirrors pretending to be something he is not. Sure, it’s fun for a while, but soon the people are addicted and headed down the road to total destruction. Somewhere along the line, they need to be rescued, and that will not come through another program that looks like the same path they have been on.
Christianity is different from the world. It’s supposed to be different. The Word of God tells us to be different. We know everyone will not love us because we are Christians, but when they get so burdened in the sin of the world they have no other place to turn, they will seek the Truth of the Gospel of Christ and when that happens, we need to be there waiting to help them.
People in the world are hurting and need help. The world offers no help; only hindrance. If the world offered help, it wouldn’t be full of people lost, dying, and headed for Hell. The Holy Spirit of God is our Helper. The Bible does not tell of any other person or program that is our Helper except the Holy Spirit.
Every Christian, Christian home, Christian business and Christian church should be a place where the Holy Spirit dwells and is present to be the Helper to all who enter and ask.
The Holy Spirit of God will……..turn the tide
