Divine Appointments

Isaiah 30:21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” and whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

As we continue in our study of the Book of Acts we come to the time when an Angel of the Lord spoke to Philip and told him to go in a certain direction. And an Angel of the Lord spoke unto Philip, saying, arise and go toward the south unto the way that goes down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. (Acts 8:26)

Philip did not question these Divine Instructions. And he arose and went and behold a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace Queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship. (Acts 8:27)

Philip came upon this man along the road who “just happened” to be sitting in his chariot reading the 53rd Chapter of the Prophet Isaiah. That’s when the Holy Spirit spoke to Philip and said, Philip, go near and join yourself to this chariot. (Acts 8:29)

Again, Philip acted in obedience to the Word spoken to him. He approached the man and asked him if he understood what he was reading. The man was receptive to Philip and they engaged in a conversation which led to Philip preaching the Gospel to him and he was saved! Then Philip traveled with him and they came upon a body of water. The man asked Philip if he would baptize him. (Acts 8:30-36)

Philip questioned the man before he baptized him. And Philip said, If you believe with all your heart, you may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Crist is the Son of God. (Acts 8:37) These are the last words recorded by this man.

The meeting between Philip and the Ethiopian was a Divine Appointment. They both had to be in that particular place at that precise time or the meeting never would have taken place. God’s time is perfect and He has Divine Appointments for all of us. He speaks to us through Angels and the Holy Spirit, directing us to go to certain places. Ours is not to question why. Our is only to obey because we don’t know what God has Planned.

My friends, there are no coincidences with God. Things don’t “just happen.” We don’t just happen to meet people. Everything happens for a reason and if we are in tune with the Voice of God, we will take these opportunities to share the Gospel of Christ and build the Kingdom of God. This is our purpose.

Today, as you go about your activities, listen for the Voice of God and Your ears shall hear a word behind you saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” and whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:21)

God will use you to……….turn the tide

Listening closely,         Doreen
