Don't Lose Heart

Luke 5:8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

After fishing all night, Peter and his partners had caught nothing. The fish were simply not there, and they all knew it. That’s the way fishing is. Sometimes it’s good and other times it’s not. That night, it was not good, so they quit fishing and washed their nets instead.

However, everything changed with Jesus in the boat! I can just imagine the look on Peter’s face when they began to bring up the nets filled with more fish than their boat could hold!

I’m sure Peter doubted Jesus when He said, Launch out into the deep and let down your nets. Peter knew there were no fish out there. They had fished all night and caught nothing. We do not know how many times Peter and his partners had let down their nets to no avail, but I'm sure it was many.

But then, everything changed, and Peter was so amazed at the catch, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. The sin he had committed was doubting the Power of Jesus, and Peter was so ashamed he did not feel worthy of even being in the Presence of the Lord.

To doubt the Power of God is a sin. Doubt is a lack of faith, and we should never doubt the ability of God. The Word tells us that, With God all things are possible. It doesn’t matter how many times you have “let down your nets” and come up empty.

The situation you’re in may look impossible, but it is not. You may have tried over and over again and failed every time but it doesn’t matter. In the eighteenth chapter of his book, Luke wrote of a Parable Jesus taught and the lesson is to keep praying and never lose heart.

We must never let Satan rob us of our faith, no matter how grim the situation may appear in the natural. When all else fails, God is able! Don’t quit and never give up. Keep on because God is on your side, and if God be for us, who can be against us?

When all seems lost, God can…...….turn the tide.

Praising Him,      Doreen
