Doubting Nothing

Acts 10:17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this Vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate.

Peter was still on the roof arguing with God when the three men from Cornelius’ house arrived at the house of Simon the tanner. While Cornelius’ men were at the gate of Simon’s house asking if Peter was there, God spoke to Peter and told him that three men were downstairs at the door asking for him. While Peter thought about the Vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are seeking you. Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.” (Acts 10:19-20)

Peter had seen the Vision and the Holy Spirit repeated Himself three times telling him to not call common (or unclean) that which He had cleansed. Jesus had already been Crucified, Buried, Resurrected, and Ascended into Heaven. His Finished Work had fulfilled the Law and the Old Covenant between God and the Jews was complete. It was time for God to institute the New Covenant which was for all people, everywhere. This would fulfill the Prophecy made by Isaiah. But to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at My Word. (Isaiah 66:2) Peter knew the Words of the Prophets and yet he still doubted the Words spoken to him by the Spirit of God.

Peter just couldn’t come to grips with the fact that all those common, unclean Gentiles could be saved! The Jews were God’s chosen people. All the others were just peons and slaves. None of them were worthy of Salvation. Peter was stricken with something called spiritual pride. In short, he considered himself to be better than others. This is not of God. All pride is of Satan and must be cast off.

However, Peter did recognize the Voice of the Spirit, and finally, with reluctance, he did obey. Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, behold I am he whom you seek: what is the cause wherefore you are come? (Acts 10:21)

The Holy Spirit had told Peter that three men were coming to see him but He did not tell him what they wanted or why they were coming. He did tell Peter to go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them. (Acts 10:20) Basically, the Spirit was telling Peter to stop asking questions and just do what you are told.

Peter would later understand how the Vision would play into this whole scenario. God only told Peter what he needed for that moment. He had shown him the whole picture in the Vision but Peter did not understand it. All Peter had to do at that point was trust God and obey His Voice.

Oftentimes what God tells us to do seems strange to us and totally crazy to other people but we must learn to hear and obey the Voice of God. He will probably not give us the whole picture from the beginning but He will see it through to completion IF we trust Him and obey. He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

The Spirit of the Lord is saying: Arise and go, doubting nothing.

Trust Him and He WILL……..….turn the tide……….in your life!
