Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.
The 9th Chapter of the Book of Acts relates the single most powerful conversion experience in all of history! That, of course, is what we have been studying for the past few weeks; the conversion of Saul of Tarsus.
God totally orchestrated this happening and several people were used by Him to cause it to play out exactly as He had planned. God used the men who traveled with Saul, Judas, and Ananias to bring about this all-important incident in history.
We know that when Jesus appeared to Saul in a Vision on the Road to Damascus and spoke to him, his traveling companions were with him. They too heard the Voice of Jesus but they did not see Him. And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. (Acts 9:7) We don’t know who these men were or how many of them accompanied Saul. Nor do we know what happened to them but we can assume they were of the same mindset as Saul or he would not have chosen them to travel with him to Damascus to arrest believers.
We also know that after Saul heard the Voice of Jesus and was radically saved, he stood up on his feet. He was now blind and it was the men traveling with him that took him by the hand and led him into Damascus and to the house of Judas where he fasted for three days and three nights. The once strong, powerful leader had become the helpless follower.
During this time the Lord spoke to a Disciple named Ananias in a Vision who also lived in Damascus, and instructed him to go to the home of Judas and lay hands on Saul that he may be healed from blindness and filled with the Holy Spirit. Because Ananias knew of this man named Saul and that he was the chief persecutor of believers, he questioned Jesus. But the Lord assured Ananias of what He wanted him to do and Ananias acted in obedience.
While Saul was at the home of Judas, he had another Vision. This time, Saul saw a man named Ananias coming into the house and laying hands on him to receive his eyesight. The following are the Words of instructions Jesus spoke to Ananias in his Vision: Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold he is praying. And in a Vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight. (Acts 9: 11-12)
The whole thing happened exactly as it was portrayed through Visions. And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house, and putting his hands on him said, brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto you in the way as you came, has sent me, that you might receive your sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 9:17)
God still uses Dreams and Visions. And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. (Acts 2:17) Never discount your dreams and visions. While all of our dreams and visions are not from God, you will know when they are. How? You just do.
God still uses Dreams and Visions to…...….turn the tide……..in our lives.
Thank you Lord for dreams and visions, Doreen
