Dry Bones Live

Ezekiel 37:1-2 The Hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry.

Ezekiel is a Prophecy given by the Holy Spirit to the Prophet Ezekiel. It pertains to Israel in the coming Kingdom Age, but as is true with all Prophecy of the Lord, it is also pertinent to the reader and the times in which they live.

The Lord showed Ezekiel a valley full of dry bones; very dry bones. This speaks of the spiritual condition of these people. Not only were they spiritually dead, they were VERY dead and had been dead for a long time. Is America full of valleys of very dry bones? Are American churches little more than cemeteries full of spiritually dead people? Is the Kingdom of God spiritually dead in America, and can it be revived?

In Verse 3, the Lord asked Ezekiel, Son of man, can these bones live?  The Lord is asking born-again believers in America today this same question: Can these spiritually dead bones live? We find the answer in Paul’s second letter to the Church at Corinth. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Without the Spirit of the Lord, there is no life or liberty. Groups of people who gather together for whatever reason but do not invite and welcome the Holy Spirit to be in their midst are nothing more than a big pile of dry, spiritually dead bones.

It’s time for a bone examination, personally and in the Church. Are the bones alive? Are there broken bones? Fractured bones? Shattered bones? Everywhere we look, we see piles of dead bones. Again, we pose the question: Can these spiritually dead bones live?

Here is the answer: Again He said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O you dry bones, hear the Word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and you will bring up flesh upon you and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the Lord. (Ezekiel 37:4-6)

Sinew is defined as a piece of tough fibrous tissue that unites muscle to bone or bone to bone; a tendon or ligament. The human body is held together by sinews; connective tissue. Without sinews, our bodies would fall apart.

The Holy Spirit of God can absolutely bring life to dead bones. Money can’t do it. Position can’t do it. A title can’t do it. Material possessions can’t do it. Nothing in this world can bring life to dead, dry bones. God created us and knit our bodies together in our mother’s womb and gave us life. He alone is the Giver of life and the Restorer of life. Only He can resurrect dead bones.

God does not seek piles of dry bones. He wants people to be spiritually ALIVE! He wants every bone in our bodies to be burning with the Fire of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God will usher in this burning. The Prophet Jeremiah said, But His Word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.

God wants us to be so “on fire” for Him that we cannot contain ourselves! I say to you, Dry bones…..LIVE!

Only God can do this. Only God can……….turn the tide
