Acts 1:8 But you shall receive Power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the Earth.

 

In regard to the times or the seasons, in Acts 1:7 Jesus said, ……..which the Father has put in His Own Power. In His very next sentence He said, But you shall receive Power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: (Acts 1:8) In both cases the translation is the word “Power” but they have a different meaning.

 

As we discussed yesterday, in Verse 7, the Greek word He used is “exousia” which means “control.” In Verse 8 the word Jesus spoke was “dunamis” which means “Miracle-working ability.” As you can see, the two words are totally different and do not mean the same thing.

 

While Jesus Ministered on Earth, He had dunamis (Miracle-working ability) and everyone around Him witnessed it every day. He is now explaining to His believers that when He Ascends to the Father, the Holy Spirit will come upon them and that same dunamis (Miracle-working ability) will now be in them!

 

As we have stated many times, the Holy Spirit is the Power Source of God. Every Miracle Jesus performed here on Earth He did by the Power of the Holy Spirit. Since Pentecost, that Power Source has been transferred to believers. WE have the same dunamis (Miracle-working ability) in us that Jesus had in Him and it is in operation through our Spiritual Gifts.

 

Prior to Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was WITH believers. Now, He is IN believers, and Satan or anyone else can take Him from us. Within us dwells the dunamis (Miracle-working ability) Power Source of God Almighty, the Creator of the entire universe!

 

This Power comes to us through and because of our faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary. If Jesus had not gone to the Cross, He would not have been Buried, Risen, Resurrected, and Ascended to the Father. It all happened at the Cross and without faith in what Jesus did on Crucifixion Day, we have nothing. That’s where our walk with the Lord and our ministry begins and from there it only gets better and better every day.

 

There is Power, Power, wonder-working Power in the Blood of the Lamb! If you believe that, that same Power is in you! Hallelujah!
