Examine The Fruit

1 John 2:27 But the Anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same Anointing teaches you concerning all things, and it is true, and it is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

The Prophet Balaam had many people fooled in his day and he is still fooling people today. When we read about him in the Book of Numbers, we find where he spoke the Word of the Lord to the people as the Prophets of Old did. When asked, many Christians today believe he was a godly man but when you really dig deep into his motives, you find the exact opposite.

As Jesus said, You shall know them by their fruit. (Matthew 7:16) In the greatest sermon ever preached (the Sermon on the Mount) Jesus spoke directly to this subject and we must use our Gift of Discernment of Spirits as the enemy comes only to kill, steal, and destroy the Kingdom of God. (John 10:10)

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. (Matthew 7:15-20)

As we study this Parable of Jesus, we are made aware of the fact that all trees are similar in nature. They all look somewhat the same. They all have a trunk, branches, and leaves. Sometimes it is not until they bear fruit that we can determine what kind of tree they are. No matter what the tree looks like on the outside, if it bears apples, it is an apple tree.

And so it is with people. This is the point of the Parable Jesus spoke of. Some people come looking like a prophet. They sound like a prophet and dress like a prophet, but when we examine the fruit of their ministry we find them to not be true prophets, but imposters.

These are those we discussed yesterday. Perhaps they bought their gifting and title from another false prophet. Others have been taught how to prophesy by other people. None of this is authentic and of God, because all of God’s Gifts are Supernatural in nature as the Holy Spirit is actually doing the Work of God through the people He has Called and Anointed for that particular work.

Therefore, do not look at the tree. Rather, examine the fruit. The fruit is what the tree produces; what is left behind. If the fruit is good, the tree is also good. If not, don’t stand under that tree because its rotten fruit will fall on you.

Hear the Word of the Lord: Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

Beware! God is about to…...….turn the tide
