Faith vs. Unbelief

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My Voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

In the 11th Chapter of the Book of Acts, Luke turned his attention from Jerusalem to Antioch. Jerusalem just couldn’t seem to get past their dependence and reliance on the Law so God moved much of the evangelistic effort to Antioch which was a big city on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The population at that time was approximately 500,000 people.

After the stoning of Stephen (Acts 8) believers scattered into various places throughout the region and preached the Gospel. Here in the 11th Chapter, Luke relates that some of them traveled a long distance. Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the Word to no one but the Jews only. (Acts 11:19) Antioch in Syria was 500 miles from Jerusalem and was known for its culture.

God moved the focus of His Ministry out of Jerusalem because the people were not open to receiving the Truth of the Gospel of Christ. This is exactly what happened to Jesus when He tried to Minister to the people in His hometown of Nazareth. The spirit of unbelief had so plagued the folks there, Jesus was not able to do much. When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their Synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?” So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A Prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief. (Matthew 13:54-58)

The Holy Spirit of God will not move where He is not welcome. This has always been the case. Where people are open to the Moving and Operation of the Spirit, Miracles will take place but where the spirit of unbelief dominates, little to nothing supernatural will happen. God will not force Himself on people. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My Voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20)

God still performs Miracles. The reason we don’t see supernatural things happen in churches today is the same as it was 2,000 years ago…...UNBELIEF. People simply do not believe in the Power of God to perform Miracles. Do you believe?

If so, invite Him to……….turn the tide……….in your life.

He will do it!         Doreen
