Mark 9:29 And He said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

The father of the demon-possessed boy had taken him to the Disciples for Deliverance, but they were unable to drive the demon out. However, Jesus was successful in accomplishing this, and it caused a question among the Disciples, who later, privately asked Jesus, Why could not we cast him out? (Mark 9:28)

Jesus responded, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

The word “fasting” here is not limited to doing without food as many believe. Fasting means to deny yourself of something, including your own strength, ability, and power. Without Christ, we have no power. All Power to see people Saved, Healed, and Delivered is in the Name of Jesus, made possible by His Sacrificial Work on the Cross.

Jesus died that we may be free from all sin, shame, and demonic influence on our lives, but we have no power in and of ourselves to cast out any spirit.

Fasting results in personal weakness which enables the Holy Spirit to become stronger within us. Doctors today prescribe medicine and perform procedures on people, but few (if any) pray for their patients to be healed by the Power of God. They may WANT their patients to be cured, but they believe the healing will come by way of their knowledge, ability, and power. That thought process is totally opposite of what the Bible teaches. I believe God does use doctors to see people treated, but Divine Healing is the Work of the Holy Spirit alone.

When we fast from personal ability and power, we leave room for the Holy Spirit to work miracles. When all human hope is gone, God does His Mighty Work.

The Apostle Paul said, For we are glad when we are weak and you are strong. (1 Corinthians 13:9) Paul understood that human weakness is an asset in ministry. It’s not about any human being. We are capable of nothing without Christ. It is the Power in the Name of Jesus Christ that causes Miracles to happen.  When we decrease (through the fasting of our own power and ability), God will increase and use us as His vessel.

Fasting will........turn the tide ......in your life.
