Fear Not

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

As we continue our study of the transformation that takes place in the life of every born-again believer, we find that the major part of this takes place in the mind. We say what we think. We do what we think. We are what we think. So, the question is, what do you think?

One of Satan’s most powerful weapons is the spirit of fear. If he can fill our minds with thoughts of fear, he can cripple us. The Word of God tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear. (2 Timothy 1:7) Well, if God doesn’t give us fear, who does? Where does the spirit of fear come from if not from God? The answer, of course, is Satan.

There is no place for fear in the life of a believer. We have nothing to fear because God is everything to us and He is a million times more powerful than the strongest demon Satan has. The words fear not, do not be afraid, do not fear appear in the Bible more than 350 times.

This is not a suggestion made by God. This is a command. We are not to fear. My friends, we have nothing to fear! Every thought of fear comes from the enemy and we have been given the Power of God Almighty over him. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

Fear is actually a lack of faith. You cannot be faithful and fearful at the same time. It is not possible. So, we each must choose how we will live: in fear or in faith. I choose faith. I have seen God do too many things in my life to not trust Him.

Everything we go through is a test of our faith. God has given us power, love and a sound mind. There’s that word “mind” again. God has given you a sound mind. Are you thinking soundly? Are you operating in total faith in God? What are you afraid of?

Do not fear, have faith in God. All thoughts of fear must be rebuked and cast out of your mind because God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

Fear not! God wants to……….turn the tide……….in your life.
