Psalm 63:1 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.
Few of us have probably ever been so thirsty and dry that we faint from the lack of water in our system. After three days without water, the body begins to shut down and die. God created the human body to consist of approximately 60% water. We cannot survive without water. It is absolutely essential for human existence.
Our spirit being cannot survive without Water either. This Water is the Living Water found only in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died that we may live abundant lives on earth and Eternal Life with Him in Heaven.
Prior to being born again, we are in a state of dying of thirst. From the day we are born, we are dying of thirst. All the water in this world cannot sustain life in our spiritual being. This is the Water David was longing for when he wrote this Psalm. O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.
David wrote this during the dark and dry time in his life when he was fleeing from Saul. He found himself in the wilderness of Judah and was banned from the Sanctuary. He sought God with all his heart in this dry and thirsty land. He quickly learned how horrible life was without the Presence of God.
In Old Testament times, the people had to go to the Tabernacle or Temple to be in the Presence of God. I thank God we don’t have to do this any longer due to Jesus sending the Holy Spirit to dwell inside us. We are each the Temple of God where the Holy Spirit resides. What a Blessing and Benefit for all believers!
Jesus promised that we never have to be thirsty again when we drink of the Living Water. but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the Water that I shall give him will become in him a Fountain of Water springing up into Everlasting Life. (John 4:14)
If this is the case, why do we see so many dried-up churches filled with miserable people who call themselves Christians? We will address that question tomorrow. For today, dwell in the Pasture of Plenty and forget not your Benefits as you allow your spirit being to be filled to overflowing with the Living Water of the Lord Jesus Christ and seek the Holy Spirit of God with every fiber of your being.
The Living Water will........turn the tide ........in your life.
At the Fountain, Doreen
