Romans 1:17 For in it the Righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
The story of Abraham and Isaac pertains to all of us. Abraham waited a lifetime for a son. Finally, at the age of 100, God gave him Isaac. God promised Abraham that one day he would be the father of many nations. As for Me, behold, My Covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. (Genesis 17:4) That meant Abraham would have to have descendants. Isaac would be his first descendant.
As soon as Abraham got comfortable with his family and he could see that the Promise of God would come to pass, God told him to offer up Isaac as a burnt offering. How could he be a father of many nations if he sacrificed his only son on the Altar?
God was testing Abraham’s faith. Would he believe God and sacrifice Isaac or not? Abraham passed the test of faith God set before him and the Bible says that because of his faith, he was seen as Righteous. For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for Righteousness. (Romans 4:9)
Everything we go through in life is either caused by God or allowed by God. It is all a test of our faith in Him. The Apostle Paul wrote, For in it the Righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)
The goal in the life of every born-again believer in Christ is to be seen as Righteous by God. That means we live our lives every day to please Him. The ONLY way to please God is by having faith in Him and the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross. This is the faith that is accounted to us as Righteousness.
Jesus went to the Cross so we can be free from sin and every bondage and burden that the enemy brings our way. God allows us to be tempted because if we were not tempted we could not respond in faith. We read in the Book of Job that God allowed Satan to test Job’s faith. Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” (Job 1:8)
If you have never read the Book of Job, I highly recommend that you do so. As you read it, keep in mind that God allowed everything Job went through. It was all a test of his faith and like Abraham, Job passed the test with flying colors.
These true stories are in the Bible because God wants us to know that we too can pass the test of faith. No matter what the enemy throws our way, when we keep our faith squarely placed in the Cross of Christ, we will pass the test. Jesus has already passed the test for us. He paid the price 2,000 years ago. Nothing the enemy does can harm us if we have the faith to believe our Victory is in Jesus!
Faith in Christ Crucified will…...….turn the tide……….in your life.
