Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.

The Federalist Papers are a set of 85 articles and essays explaining the Constitution and American Government. Tomas Jefferson determined these writings to be the best commentary on the US Government ever written. The Federalist Papers were written by three of our Founding Fathers; Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, and published in the newspaper as a series, from 1787 to 1800. These writings remain today as the most complete explanation of the intent of our Founding Fathers and yet, few Americans have ever heard of this let alone, studied it.

John Jay was the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. He was an American statesman, Patriot, diplomat, and an expert on the Constitution and criminal justice in America. In the world of Law, the name John Jay will always be brought up and in 1964 the John Jay College of Criminal Justice was founded in New York City. Due to Jay’s undying and relentless search for the truth in every case, the Mascot of the college bearing his name is the Bloodhound.

John Jay made a profound statement in Federalist Papers #2 where he wrote: “With equal pleasure I have an often taken notice that Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people – a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government…”

The English language in the 1700s was somewhat different than modern-day English and in some cases not easy to understand. With that said, allow me to paraphrase John Jay's statement in an attempt to make it more understandable.

Doreen paraphrase: “I am pleased to share with you that I have often noticed that God Almighty has been pleased to bless Americans with a country consisting of our connected states. Americans are a united people with the same ancestors, who speak the same language, declare the same Christian faith, and agree on the same principles of government.”

There was never a doubt in the mind of any of our Founding Fathers that Americans were a like-minded people and our country was founded on the principles of the Christian faith and the Word of God. Not until recently has this become a question in the minds of some Americans. The question has arisen because of the lack of true American History being taught in our public schools. If the Constitution and Federalist Papers were taught in our schools, America would be a far different place today.

Our Founding Fathers believed that Righteousness exalts nations. Righteousness is Biblical conduct; living a life pleasing to God. The Word of God calls us to a life of Righteousness. Our Constitution calls us to a life of Righteousness. The two are parallel in principle. A return to our Constitution will be a return to the Righteousness of God Almighty in America. This is our only Hope. We must return!
