God Is For Me

Psalm 56:1 Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresses me.

David wrote this Psalm during the time when Saul was trying to kill him. His enemy was an army of many, and they were fierce. Their goal was to destroy David.

The enemy ALWAYS seeks to destroy God’s people and their ministry. Jesus told us this in John 10:10 The enemy comes only to kill, steal and destroy. As David goes on to say in Verse 2, the attack is constant. My enemies would daily swallow me up; for they be many who fight against me, O You Most High.

Daily, his enemies attacked him. They never quit, and we read in Verses 3–6 where David became fearful but knew where to turn. What time I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God I will praise His Word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. Every day they wrest my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil. They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

When the enemy attacks, we become fearful; we all do. Our response to fear is representative of our faith. How we respond is a demonstration of in whom we place our trust.

Like David, we have all sinned and failed God. The enemy will do his best EVERY DAY to remind us of all those things and drag us down further. He attacks us in spirit, soul, and body. He seeks to destroy us physically, mentally, and especially, spiritually. If he can cause us to lose faith in Christ, and turn away from God, he wins.

All attack comes from the enemy. God does not attack us. He DOES allow us to be attacked and tempted just as He did Jesus in the wilderness. Whatever it is you are facing today; however fearful you are at this time, remember the Words of this Psalm, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

As we read on we see where David praises his way out of fear. Verse 9-13 When I cry unto you, then shall my enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. In God will I praise His Word: in the Lord will I praise His Word. In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid of what man can do unto me. Your vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto You. For you have delivered my soul from death: will not you deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of living? Yes, He will. He promises to never leave us or forsake us. He will lift you up out of the pit and plant your feet on the Solid Rock. Do not fear. Trust in the Lord God. Give Him praise for what he has done and watch Him do that which you cannot even imagine! Hallelujah!

Giving Praise to Jesus will……..turn the tide
