Have you ever wondered why we don’t see more moving of the Holy Spirit in churches today? Why don’t we witness Miracles? Why don’t we see people healed and delivered? I believe a huge part of the answer to this question lies in the spirit of religion.
God does not operate within our rules. In fact, I would venture to say the rules of man still make God angry, causing the Holy Spirit of God to withdraw from our midst.
The Holy Spirit is our Teacher, Guide, Counselor, and Healer. It is He who does the Working of Miracles in people. When the Holy Spirit of God is not welcome, nothing of God will happen.
When a fellowship of people gathers together but rejects the Holy Spirit, they are nothing more than a group of people who come together on a regular basis, do the same thing every week, and may occasionally do some good work in their community. This is a description of a church led by the spirit of religion, and this is what made Jesus angry. However, in spite of the powerful spirit of religion that was operating through the Pharisees in the Synagogue, Jesus healed the man anyway! The Spirit of God is far more powerful than any demonic spirit of Satan.
As Christians, we are to operate as Jesus did and let the Power of the Holy Spirit minister to the people whether or not the leaders of the church like it! Who do we serve: God or religion?
