God's Pasture

Matthew 10:7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the Door of the sheep.”

There is nothing quite as peaceful as watching a herd of cattle lying down in the tall, green grass of a well-maintained pasture. My husband, Jack, and I used to love to just sit on the ground and watch our cows in the pasture. Totally contented cows will be lying down, chewing their cud as the calves run and play among them. This is indeed a beautiful sight to behold.

There is a lot to be said for creating and maintaining a beautiful pasture for your animals. The fences must be kept up and the gates in working order. The fields are to be continually sprayed and mowed to control the weeds. The pasture grass also requires water and fertilizer to grow in abundance. A well-maintained pasture in good deep soil will produce feed in abundance during the growing season and hay for the winter season. This is the perfect environment for raising strong, healthy livestock.

God uses Pasture and Sheep as symbols for His Kingdom because most people can easily relate. However, people who have been born and raised in the city have no idea about livestock and pastures. I was one of those people until I married Jack and we moved to the country. I am so grateful for my husband and the changes he brought to my life, and I still enjoy living in the country and watching the animals.

The Pasture God has created for His children is spectacular to say the least. Within the fences, we find the most lush, green grass any “sheep” could ever ask for. However, no one enters into His Pasture unless they pass through the Gate. Jesus is that Gate. He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the Door of the sheep.” There is no other way into God's Pasture but through the Gate named Jesus.

Everything outside God’s Pasture is controlled by Satan and is referred to as “the world.” Satan tries his best to lure people into his pastures filled with poisonous weeds and predators. Millions of people fall for his evil schemes and end up spending their entire lives in pain and bondage, where they struggle to survive each day.

Satan is the great imposter. His fields look green and healthy, and they are indeed inviting, but once inside those fences, it’s not anything like it appeared from the outside. You have probably heard the saying, “The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.” This is so true.

If you are a born-again Christian, you have entered through the Gate (Jesus) into the Pasture of Benefits created by God for you. There is no better place to spend your life. Don’t be lured outside the fences because the grass is not greener out there. It may look like it is, but it is not.

Be satisfied with what God provides through His Gate in His Pasture of Plenty. Stay within His Fences. There you will find everything you could ever ask for.

Spending life in God’s Pasture will.........turn the tide .........in your life.
