Hebrews 9:16-17 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives.
A last will and testament is written by an individual in regard to their wishes for the disposition of their belongings after their physical death. Each person has the right to write in this document in any condition they choose. At the time of their death, the people mentioned in the document are called together and the Last Will and Testament are read and carried out. Arguments are not accepted or heard and it is the job of the attorney and trustees to see that every condition is met in total compliance with the wishes of the testator.
Oftentimes such documents are revised and rewritten several times, but the final will and testament is what will stand up in court, that’s why it is called the LAST Will and Testament. With each rewrite, all prior documents are obsolete.
God set in place the first Testament for His people and we know it as the Old Testament. This was God’s Law for all His people until the Crucifixion of Christ. At that moment, the New Testament was put into effect and the Old became obsolete.
In both the Old Testament of God and the New Testament, the shedding of blood was required. God has ALWAYS required blood to be shed for people to be redeemed of their sin. The Old Testament of God and the New Testament are God’s Redemption Plan for His People. The New Testament supersedes the Old.
Jesus did not BRING the New Testament. Nor did He WRITE or SPEAK the New Testament. Jesus WAS the New Testament. Just as the blood of millions of lambs sacrificed in the Old Testament times, brought redemption to God’s people, the Blood of Jesus (the Lamb of God) brings redemption to ALL who choose to believe Him to be the New Testament.
Jesus declared Himself to be the New Testament when He said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me. The Shed Blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God, IS the New Testament and to this day another has not been written.
All the criteria and every condition is spelled out in the Books of the New Testament portion of the Bible. Every Word was inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and written down by men chosen by God to do so.
There is standard language written into wills that declares that anyone who changes or contests the words of the documents will be removed from the will and not receive any portion thereof. And so it is with the Word of God. Many try, but no one has the right to change a single Word of God’s Testament.
God does not need the help of man. His Plan is Perfect. Let us seek His Perfect Plan and live our lives in accordance with it.
