1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Our relationship with God is the most important relationship in our lives. Another extremely important relationship is our relationship with our spouse. The Word of God has much to say on the subject of marriage. God's Plan is for every marriage to be successful. It is all part of God’s Divine Plan and Order for marriage. It all starts with mutual love for each other.
The Apostle Paul wrote a beautiful commentary on Love and it is often read at weddings because it should be the basis upon which a marriage is founded and will blossom throughout the entire lives of the husband and wife.
We find this Passage in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
What you have just read is God’s list of what Love is and is not. This is His Plan for the basis of all relationships, but especially every marriage. Many marriage vows will include that both the husband and wife agree to love each other in good times and in bad, for richer or poorer, in sickness or in health, until they part in death.
This can only be achieved when God and His Word are at the center of the marriage. If God is not present, Satan will be present, and he comes ONLY to kill, steal and destroy. (John 10:10)
The enemy has worked very hard to destroy God’s institution of marriage. The divorce rate in America is now at 50%. Half of all marriages end in divorce. Why? Because the couple is not adhering to God’s Order for their relationship.
Every aspect of God’s Perfect Plan for marriage is spelled out clearly in the Bible. Over the next few days, we will discuss what God’s Word has to say on this subject. If you are married, this pertains to you and your spouse.
God created man and woman. He instituted marriage. He set forth in His Word everything needed for a successful marriage. When problems arise, it is because the couple is somehow out of God’s Order. It’s not easy, but it is God’s Way, and His Way is ALWAYS perfect!
God wants to turn the tide in your marriage. He can do it if you will seek Him with all your heart and be willing to humble yourself and pray. Jesus said, Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)
Only God can..........turn the tide
God is so AWESOME! Doreen
