1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The non-believer, or the believer who rejects the Holy Spirit, does not receive the things of God and refers to them as foolishness. Anyone who takes this position is indeed a fool themselves.
Any person who rejects anything of God is foolish. The Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Paul to write on this subject. God is Spirit, and He communicates to our spirit through His Holy Spirit. All Divine Communication (from that Still Small Voice we hear in our inner being to that loud, repeated warning we can’t seem to escape) is all God speaking to us through the Holy Spirit. We would be wise to pay attention instead of discounting Him. To discount the Voice of the Holy Spirit is to reject God, and that, my friends, is foolish.
God’s Plan for us is good, and He stands ready to provide everything required for an Abundant Life, but we must make the choice not to turn our backs on Him and live our daily lives with our heads outside the fence of His Pasture of Plenty. When we do, we are behaving in the natural, and Paul said, But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The portion of Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians on this subject is well worth much time of study and should be the Christian’s guideline for living. Paul quotes the Prophet Isaiah in Verse 9, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (Isaiah 64:4)
We will never begin to fully see, hear, or understand all the things God has prepared for those who love Him. The Benefits are countless. The grass in the pasture is so green and lush that we cannot begin to describe it. The Water is Deep and Pure and never dries up. Everything there is Perfect like the Garden of Eden God created for Adam and Eve in the beginning.
God wants us to have it all. Jesus called it Abundant Life. He gave His Life on the Cross that we may enjoy an Abundant Life on earth and Everlasting Life with Him in Heaven. He has provided it all for us. We can have it all. Seek the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness with all your heart. Turn your back on the fence and head straight for the Cross of Christ that stands tall in the center of the Pasture of Plenty. Go there and stay there because it is at the Cross where Jesus died for you to have it all.
I love the old hymn, At the Cross, at the Cross where I first saw the Light, and the burdens of my heart rolled away. It was there by faith I received my sight, and now I am happy all the day.
The Cross of Christ will….....turn the tide ...........in your life.
At the Cross, Doreen
