Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under Grace.

Many people believe that once someone is saved, they will never sin again.  This is far from the truth.  Unfortunately, the sin nature remains with us, but as the great Apostle writes in the above passage of Scripture, sin shall not have dominion over you.

This does not mean there is no sin in our lives or that we will never sin again.  We will sin again.  The devil never stops tempting us, and due to the sin nature, occasionally, all Christians fail.  Even Preachers, Teachers, Evangelists, Apostles, Prophets, and Deacons fail at times.  No one is perfect.  We all make mistakes.  We all become weak at times and succumb to the temptation of Satan.

So what does this scripture mean?  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under Grace.  It means sin will not dominate and control our lives.  We will not take pleasure in our sin like we once did.  We will hate the sin, and it will not control us.

At Betts Ministries, we are witnesses to so many examples of this with people once controlled by drugs, alcohol, nicotine, gambling, shopping, eating, pornography, adultery, thievery, deception, witchcraft, etc.  Prior to their Salvation and Deliverance, the sin in their lives totally consumed them.  The sin controlled their life.  Everything they did led them right back to the sin, and every day they became more deeply entrenched.  This is an accurate picture of sin dominating a person’s life.

When a person is Saved and Born Again, they begin to hate the sin that they once loved and had control over them for so long.  They don’t want to do it anymore.  In some cases, God completely delivers people from the sin immediately upon their Salvation, but most of the time, it is a process; the Sanctification process.

Little by little, one day at a time, the Holy Spirit convicts the heart of the individual and causes them to change, and one day, they just notice…..it’s gone!  They have been delivered by the Power of God!  They have Victory in Jesus over something that held them captive for so long!

To fully understand exactly what Christ did on the Cross for us makes it much easier to surrender our sins to God.

We can't overcome it on our own in the natural.  If we could, we would have done it a long time ago.  Jesus died so we can be set free from the bondage of sin.

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under Grace.  The Law brings condemnation.  The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ brings Freedom; Victory OVER the sin that once had dominion over us.

As we approach the Christmas Season, share the TRUE meaning of Christmas with your family and friends. The Word became Flesh and His Name is Jesus.  He was born to give His Life on the Cross to take away the sin of the world.  Tell someone about Him today.  Tell of His Excellent Greatness and the Freedom that awaits them at the Foot of the Cross.

Only God can take away the sin of the world and bring Victory to the heart of an individual.

Only God can.........turn the tide
