Greater Expectations

Psalm 96:4 For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;

Yesterday, I left you with this question: Jesus promised that we never have to be thirsty again when we drink of the Living Water, so why do we see so many dried-up churches filled with miserable people who call themselves Christians?

The answer is simple and yet complex at the same time. Any born-again believer who is living a miserable life does not understand and accept the Benefits available to them. In addition, they have lost sight of the fact that all Blessings and Benefits of God come by way of the Holy Spirit of God.

So many churches today do not even mention the Holy Spirit, let alone welcome Him in their midst. Without the Holy Spirit, there is no moving of God, and the people are left to dry up in their parched churches.

People go to church to receive something from God. They need their spirit to be renewed. They come to hear an empowering message from the pulpit that will lift their spirits and renew their faith. They would love to witness a Miracle of God. They want to leave that place CHANGED by the Power of the Holy Spirit!

Unfortunately, this is a rare occurrence. Few people EVER witness a true Miracle of God in their church. Other than the day they were saved, they don’t experience any real move of God. They may leave church happy to have spent some time with their friends, but to have their Joy renewed by the Power and Generosity of the Holy Spirit is something few EVER experience inside a church building. Not until the pastor invites a special Evangelist to come and preach and have something called a “revival” do we see something happen, and those occasions are rare as well.

Why? Because the Holy Spirit is not expected to do anything. He is not invited to enter, dwell among the people, and do something spectacular in their lives. My friends, we serve an AWESOME God who is able to knock your socks off in the supernatural realm. He wants to do this, but there is no expectation on the part of the people.

People are so used to ho-hum church services that they have no expectations of anything more. When we EXPECT God to move, He will. If your Pastor doesn’t EXPECT the Holy Spirit to do something, He won’t. Do you know what your Pastor expects? What do you expect God to do at church?

Here at Betts Ministries, we EXPECT God to do great things in the lives of every person who comes here. We pray for the Holy Spirit to move in powerful ways and do things BEYOND our expectations. Because we EXPECT God to move, He does. God is great! He does great things! Have great expectations and watch what He will do.

Great expectations will...........turn the tide.........in your life.

Expecting more!    Doreen
