Proverbs 3:3-4 Let not mercy and truth forsake you: bind them about your neck; write them upon the table of your heart: So shall you find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
In the third and fourth verses of the Third Chapter of Proverbs, we find yet another beautiful Promise of God. People seek to possess understanding and hope to have the favor of God on them but have no idea how to go about receiving those blessings.
Verse three spells it out explicitly. The answer: Mercy and Truth must be our guide.
These two words, Mercy and Truth, describe Jesus. He described Himself as the Way, the Truth and the Life. It is written in the Bible forty-two times that God’s Mercy endures forever. Isn’t it wonderful to know that God never runs out of Mercy! What a blessing! Mercy has been defined as God giving us what we don't deserve AND God NOT giving us what we DO deserve. That's the truth!
The Word of God tells us that we are to seek Truth and Mercy and freely give it away, just as Jesus did during His Ministry on earth, and still does today. Jesus never wavered from the Truth, and He never ceased to have Mercy. What a legacy He left us!
We too, can have such Mercy, but we must go to the Source of all Gifts and ask for it. Let us therefore come boldly to the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain Mercy and find Grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
It is our duty as ambassadors of Christ to help people in their time of need. As Christians, we represent Christ every minute of every day. In the natural, we are not Christ-like at all. We are selfish, self-centered, and egotistical. We pray for our wants and desires. We pray for God to do things our way. We pray seeking God to respond with the answers we want. We pray for God to move the mountain that stands in our way. We pray for God to calm the storm that has raged in our lives for so long.
We pray, we pray, and we continue to pray for the same things over and over again, but how many times do we come boldly to the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain Mercy and find Grace to help in time of need.
Let us do so now: Lord, In the Name of Jesus we approach your Throne of Grace. We ask for Mercy and Truth to be bound around our necks and written on the tables of our hearts. Let us respond as you did to bring help in the time of need to those you cause to be in our midst. We take you at your Word, Lord. Your Word tells us that Your Mercy endures forever. We ask for a double portion of Mercy today so that the people we meet will know that you are the Way, the Truth and the Life and no man comes to the Father but by You. Thank you Lord for hearing and answering our prayer. Amen
Mercy and Truth will……..turn the tide
Praying for greater Mercy, Doreen
