Greater Power

Habakkuk 3:12-13 You did march through the land in indignation, You did thresh the heathen in anger. You went forth for the Salvation of Your People, even for Salvation with Your Anointed. You wounded the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

As the Lord continued with the Prophetic Vision to Habakkuk, his history lesson continued as well. What the Lord did in some 800 years before, He is now bringing back to Habakkuk's memory.

History is very important. I was once asked by a young person, "Why do we have to study history? Who cares about what happened way back then?" When the Bible was our History Book, our world was a very different place because people understood the Power of God. Today, scholars change and manipulate the facts of history and write textbooks to further their own agenda. Most history textbooks today are full of lies.

The Lord gave Habakkuk this Prophetic Vision in the year 626 B.C. If Habakkuk had not known his history, much of the Vision would not have made any sense to him. The fact is, he had been taught history. He knew the facts about the war Joshua fought 800 years prior. He knew God was the greater force and that it was He who won the battle.

As the Vision continues, so does the history lesson. In the Book of Joshua, we read about this in the 10th Chapter. God's army marched through the land of Canaan and mowed down the heathens with ease. This happened because of their idol worship, which is the breaking of the First Commandment, and God will not tolerate this! Nothing is to come before, or be of greater importance than God.

God brings judgment against people as a display of His Mighty Power. He does this in an attempt to bring them to Salvation. It is God's Will that ALL people be saved through faith in Him. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3-4)

A further study of Joshua 10 reveals that the five kings of the Amorites......gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it. (Joshua 10:5)

What happened next in the history lesson is what caused Habakkuk to rise up in faith! And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, "Slack not your hand from your servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us." They sought help from Joshua, who easily defeated all five kings and their armies.

Joshua is the Hebrew word for Jesus. At this time in history, we, the people of God, are coming under attack from all sides. Everyone seems to be fighting us and trying to destroy us. Perhaps it's time to call on Jesus. We cannot fight this in the flesh. What we are fighting is a spiritual battle. The enemy is fierce, BUT Jesus has already won the Victory for us. All we have to do is call on His Mighty Name, and He will do exactly what He did in 1450 B.C.

God's people must come together, be united, and together speak the Name of Jesus as we call on Him for His Help. He still has the same Power He had in times past. God is the same, yesterday, today and forever. Never doubt the Power of God through faith in Jesus Christ to send the Holy Spirit on our behalf and win the battle.

This is why we study history. The Bible is our History Book. History repeats itself. The Battle we read of in the 10th Chapter of Joshua is recurring again today. The Prophetic Vision given to Habakkuk is another reminder of the Power of God to overcome the enemy.

Do not fear, my friends. The Power of Almighty God stands ready to defeat ALL the enemies we face. Let the Church unite and call on the ONLY ONE who can be victorious. The Gideons knew they were in over their heads, so they sent for Joshua and asked for his help. This took humility on their part. They were willing to fight, but they needed greater power, and they knew it.

We are in over our heads. We are willing to fight. The question is......Are we willing to call on the Only One who can win this battle for us? Are we willing to humble ourselves and pray and seek His Face and turn from our wicked ways? Because if we are, THEN He will hear from Heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land.

Then, He will...........turn the tide

Sending for Jesus,      Doreen
