He Heard You The First Time

Isaiah 30:19  How gracious He will be when you cry for help! As soon as He hears, He will answer you.

An excerpt from “A Wave of the Baton"

Continued from yesterday.......................

I was totally exhausted and feeling terrible. About 8:30 AM, someone knocked on my kitchen door. Thinking it was one of the landscaping crew, I answered the knock. Standing at my door was my neighbor, Brad Lahman, whose ranch adjoins mine on the southeast side. I recognized him because he and his wife had attended Jack’s funeral.

Brad was a tall, young cowboy with a big, strong bass voice. He looked down into my tired, red eyes and in a very serious way said, “I need to talk to you.” I looked up at him and thought, “Now what? Lord, I can’t take much more.”

I asked him to come in and have a cup of coffee, to which he responded, “Don’t want no coffee, but I need to talk to you......now.”  He came in and sat down at my kitchen counter. After a long pause, he proceeded to tell me what happened to him the day before. His story did not come easily because he didn’t know how I would receive what he was about to tell me.

He began by saying that his wife made him come and talk to me. He asked if I knew that his house overlooked my ranch, to which I responded, "Yes, I know where you live."  He was really beating around the bush, and I was beginning to think he was a little crazy, when he said, “I don’t want you to think I’m buttin’ into your business, because I don’t butt into anyone’s business, but,”..........

“Yesterday morning about 11:30, my wife and I were sitting at our kitchen table having a cup of coffee. As we sat there looking out the window over the ranch, all of a sudden, an overwhelming feeling came over me that................you may need some help with your cows.”

I couldn’t believe my ears. He was a direct answer to my prayer. God had sent the help I’d been praying for. I told Brad that I had been praying for the last twenty-four hours for help. After we both shed some tears, we worked out an arrangement whereby Brad would completely take care of my cattle. I didn’t know Brad at all, but I knew God sent him, and that’s all I needed to know.

Brad received the message from God while sitting at his kitchen table at 11:30 Sunday morning, which was the exact time I was sitting in church praying my heart out for an answer. I prayed all afternoon and all night, making myself sick, but God heard me the first time. He heard my cry for help and answered my prayer.

With a wave of the baton, the Maestro covered Brad with an overwhelming feeling that was so strong, he knew he had to respond. The moaning of the cellos replicating dying cows ceased as every musician in my orchestra played another wonderful song of praise, and now Brad would be playing bass in all the songs about cowboys and cattle.

God hears our prayers. He knows our needs, and He will supply them. Have faith, my friends. Your help may not come in the exact way you expect, but it will come!

Faith in God will........turn the tide......in your life.

So grateful!      Doreen
