Mark 6:6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. And He went round about the villages, teaching.
Here in the sixth Chapter of Mark’s Gospel, we read where Jesus was not accepted in His own home town. In Nazareth, He went to the Synagogue on the Sabbath and began teaching. The people were shocked by His wisdom and mighty works.
They knew who Jesus was: the son of Joseph and Mary; the brother of James and Jude. His sisters were there with them. They had watched Him grow up. How could this ordinary young man have such power and wisdom? Their questions resulted in their unbelief, which stifled what Jesus wanted to do for them.
The reason we don’t see mighty moves of God today is due to unbelief. People simply don’t believe in the Power of God through the shed Blood of Jesus.
There is no refuting that Jesus walked this earth. Many believe He was a Prophet. Others believe He was a great teacher. However, few believe He is the Son of God, born of a Virgin, crucified on the Cross as the final Sacrifice for the sins of the entire world. They don’t believe He rose from the dead on the third day and sits at the Right Hand Throne of the Father in Heaven until that day when He will return for His Bride at the Rapture of the Church and then come again to rule over the entire world as King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
My friends, if you don’t believe ALL this, you are operating in unbelief and will witness very little of what God wants to do for you. Unbelief today is the same as it was in Jesus' day. It stifled the Work of God then, and it does the same today. And there He could do no mighty work, except that He laid His Hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. (Mark 6:5)
Jesus had the Power to do great and mighty Miracles for the people of Nazareth, but they did not receive because of their unbelief. Sure, a few sick people got healed, but Jesus had so much more for them! They simply refused to believe, so they were unable to receive.
They were in the Presence of the Master and could not bring themselves to believe in who He was or what He was able to do for them. Is that where we are today? Do we REALLY believe in the Power of the Name of Jesus to save, heal, and deliver? Do we believe that in the Name of Jesus, there is Power to strike down ALL evil?
Jesus was astonished at their unbelief. The Scripture says, And He marveled because of their unbelief. And He went round about the villages, teaching. Due to their unbelief, Jesus simply left Nazareth and went to the villages where people believed. It was there that He performed GREAT Miracles.
Today, we see great moves of God in foreign lands and little to nothing in America. Why? I will leave that answer to you and close with this, Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
Faith will……..turn the tide
Lord, help my unbelief! Doreen
