2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the Promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the Glory of God through us.
The Benefits we have as born again believers are all Promises of God. As the great Apostle Paul said, all the Promises of God in Him are Yes and in Him Amen. Every Benefit and Promise comes to us through Him (Christ and Him Crucified). The shed Blood of Jesus is what seals the deal on the Promises and Benefits.
IN HIM (Christ) the Promises are Yes. IN HIM (Christ) the Promises are Amen. When we see the word “Amen” in the Word of God it means “it is so.” What we have just read is true, complete and finished; irrefutable; end of discussion.
The Promises and Benefits of God are true, complete, and irrefutable. No man or demonic spirit can take them away from us. However, just as the Promises and Benefits are true, complete and irrefutable, so are the conditions of the Promises and Benefits.
Yesterday we discussed the conditions concerning the Promise and Benefit of Forgiveness. God promises to forgive us IF we admit we are a sinner and repent. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us. (1 John 1:8-10) He also promises to forgive us IF we forgive others. And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in Heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in Heaven forgive your trespasses. (Mark 11:25-26)
Many Christians today have an entitlement mentality. They believe that just because they walked the aisle of a church at one time and repeated a prayer or said yes to God at Vacation Bible School as a child, they are automatically entitled to every Benefit and Promise of God no matter what. They ARE entitled to all the Benefits and Promises of God BUT they also must meet the conditions God has placed on those Promises and Benefits.
God wants the very best for all His children. He loves us and He wants to give us everything but He also wants us to be mature and responsible. That’s why He chastens us and corrects us. For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives. (Hebrews 12:6)
Without conditions on His Promises and Benefits, we wouldn’t grow to be mature and responsible Christians. Instead we would grow to be spoiled brats. Jesus said, For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more. (Luke 12:48)
The Word of God will……….turn the tide………in your life.
