His Story

Romans 3:29 Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also.

The Apostle Paul stood in the synagogue at Antioch in Pisidia and preached the Gospel of Christ. For clarification, this is not the same Antioch mentioned earlier in Chapter 13. There were actually sixteen cities named Antioch in the region. They were all founded by Seleucus Nicator and named after his father Antiochus.

Antioch in Pisidia was about 100 miles due east of Perga. This whole area was the mission field of Paul and Barnabas at this time. The roads between cities were rough and there were many bandits and robbers along the way. Paul tells about this in his letter to the Corinthians when he describes some of the things he went through in his suffering for Christ. From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness—besides the other things, what comes upon me daily; my deep concern for all the churches. (2 Corinthians 11:24-28)

As Paul preached in the synagogue, there were Jews, proselytes, and Gentiles present. The Gentiles were known as those who fear God. They were not allowed to sit with the Jews but they could come and listen to what was being said. These people loved God and wanted to hear the Word of God spoken through the Prophets and Preachers. In this case, the Preacher was Paul and what they heard was the Gospel of Christ which included them! Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the Forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is Justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the Law of Moses. (Acts 13:38)

Paul preached a message of History and Truth to the people that day. (Acts 13:16-41) You see, History is Truth. It is the Truth of His Story; God’s Story. The Gospel of Christ is true History. It really did happen exactly as the Word of God said it did. Jesus was born of a Virgin. He is the Son of God. He did live a Perfect Life without sin. He was Crucified on the Cross of Calvary for the sins of the world. He was buried in a borrowed tomb. He did rise again on the Third Day. He does sit at the Right Hand of the Father in Heaven today making intercession for us. And, He is coming back for His Bride, the Church.

It’s all TRUE! It is History. It is His (God’s) Story. Do you believe it? All of it? If you do, then place your faith squarely in what Jesus accomplished on the Cross of Calvary and you will find Peace unlike anything you have ever known before and you will experience Victory over sin as you become aware of the fact that Jesus defeated all power of the enemy that fateful day 2000 years ago. Hallelujah!
