Isaiah 55:11 So shall My Word be that goes forth from My Mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
There are Americans (some who profess to be Christians) who will argue that America is NOT a Christian country. I beg to differ. The Word of God is inscribed on the walls of the buildings and monuments all over Washington DC. Its precepts and principles can be found throughout our Founding Documents and the Constitution of the States that together form the foundation of our country.
To be a Christian country does not mean every person is FORCED to be a Christian. On the contrary, the Word of God gives every person FREE WILL to choose to receive Jesus as Lord or not. This is the premise upon which our Religious Freedom in America is based.
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:1)
America is, and always has been, a place where people can choose to worship God however they choose. This is religious freedom BUT the Founding Fathers (Christian or not) believed the Word of God was the basis for building a government and culture that would lead the free world.
The Great Awakening to the Holy Spirit of God in America is what led to the first Continental Congress in 1774. The Founding Fathers at this all-important meeting sought the Will of God as to how to proceed. Therefore, they called the pastor of Christ’s Church to open their meeting on September 7, 1774.
These men, (many of whom current day historians believe to be atheists) led by Rev. Duche of Christ’s Church, spent three HOURS on their knees in prayer and the study of Psalm 35.
John Adams, who went on to be our second President, wrote home to his wife a letter in regard to this time with the Lord. In this letter he wrote, (the Rev. Duche)…“read…the thirty-fifth Psalm. You must remember, this was the next morning after we heard the horrible rumor of the cannonade of Boston. I never saw a greater effect upon an audience. It seemed as if Heaven had ordained that Psalm to be read on that morning. After this, Mr. Duche, unexpectedly to everybody, struck out in an extemporary prayer, which filled the bosom of every man present. I must confess, I never heard a better prayer, or one so well pronounced.”
NOTHING is more powerful than the Word of God and time spent with Lord in prayer. The Word of God WILL NOT RETURN VOID. Rather, it shall accomplish the Will of God.
The enemy we face in America today is evil and does not want the Will of God realized in America. This is why we have seen such a strong effort to close the Bible across America. There is nothing more important than the Bible; the Holy Word of God. That is not changing! America is turning back to God and His Word.
Our Founding Fathers referred to the Bible as, The Holy Scriptures. Let us pray for our leaders who cherish and respect the Holy Scriptures as our Founding Fathers did. Let us pray for people who have the faith and courage to call in Spiritual Leaders and spend time on their knees in prayer and study of The Holy Scriptures.
The Holy Scriptures will……..turn the tide
