Holy Spirit, Our Intercessor

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Another Benefit of the Holy Spirit is that of Intercession. The Word of God tells us that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. He prays to the Heavenly Father on our behalf. How wonderful is that?!

Many times, we find ourselves so overwhelmed with a situation that we simply don’t know how to pray. We find ourselves at a loss for words, not knowing what to ask for. The right words simply won’t come. It is in times like these when we can rely on the Holy Spirit to step in and intercede on our behalf.

There is no greater Intercessor than the Holy Spirit because He will ALWAYS pray for us in accordance with the Will of God.  Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the Will of God. (Romans 8:27)

God will never answer a prayer that is contrary to His Word or His Will. Sometimes we inadvertently ask for things that are not in accordance with His Will for our lives. God will not grant us these requests because He has something far better planned. I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans not to harm you but to bring you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11) We MUST trust in the Lord and believe His Plan is for our own good.

If your child came to you and begged you to allow them to do something that you absolutely know will harm them, you would never grant them that request. No matter how many times they tell you they love you or how much they plead and beg, your answer will still be “No” because you know it is not for their good.

The same is true with our Heavenly Father. He knows the plans he has for us, and He will never grant us a request that will take us out of His Will. He will allow us to go out on our own and make stupid mistakes, but He will not be an accomplice to our own failure.

This is why it is so important to seek the Will of God in everything we do and say. Jesus said, Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33) Seek Him FIRST and trust the Holy Spirit to intercede on your behalf.

Then God will….....turn the tide .........in your life.
