John 16:8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of Righteousness, and of Judgment:
Jesus prepared His Disciples for what was going to happen after His Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension. Although He would no longer be with them personally, He would send to them someone to be their Helper and He told them that it would be the Spirit of God; the Holy Spirit.
This is very important because many people do not believe in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and His Role in their lives. This, my friends, is a tragedy! The Holy Spirit is God! We have God living within us while Jesus sits at the Right Hand of the Father ever making intercession for us.
However, it is the Holy Spirit that convicts us of sin, teaches us about Righteousness, and reminds us of the Judgment of God. This is what Jesus said. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of Righteousness, and of Judgment: (John 16:8)
Then Jesus went on to give them a brief explanation of each of these three things. He said of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of Righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of Judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. (John 16:9-11)
This is the Work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He tells us when we are wrong, teaches us about what is Right, and reminds us that everyone will one day be judged. The most important thing to remember is that everything the Holy Spirit tells us, teaches us, and reminds us of, will be in absolute alignment with the Word of God.
He will NEVER guide us or teach us anything that is not in compliance with the Word of God. He is the Holy Spirit of God; He is God; Jesus is God. Therefore, the Three of them are of the same mind. They never disagree with each other in any way, shape, or form.
So, when the Holy Spirit convicts you of something you are doing that is not pleasing to God (sin) He will also show you the right way (Righteousness). In addition, He will remind you that it is in your best interest to repent of this sin and turn from it because you WILL answer for it. (Judgment)
According to Jesus, this is the Work of the Holy Spirit, our Teacher, Guide, Counselor, and overall Helper. He is all we need. We would be well advised to listen and obey.
Your Helper will………..turn the tide……….in your world!
Listening closely, Doreen
