Habakkuk 2:14 For the Earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord, as the water covers the sea.
This verse, found in the middle of the Second Chapter of Habakkuk, is a word of encouragement to the Prophet as the Lord paints a pretty bleak picture of evil. After describing those who live a lifestyle of cheating, covetousness, blackmail, and murder in order to elevate themselves to a place of greatness in the world, the Lord brings comfort as He assures His people that at some point these people will fall in ruin, and the Earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord.
In the midst of what seems to be total darkness, the Lord always brings hope! As we examine the world around us today, we see darkness everywhere as our culture falls deeper and deeper into sin. Everywhere we turn, we find every form of sin described in the Bible, and those people currently seeking to lead our country are right up there with the worst of the worst.
However, the Word of God is the Story of Jesus Christ, who is the Hope of the World! In the midst of total darkness, the slightest glimmer of Light will flood the room, and just as the water covers the sea, the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord shall fill the earth.
Oh, how we long to see this come to pass now at this time in history. We ask, how much worse can it get, Lord? How long will you allow sin to prevail? We do not have the answers to these questions, but we can be assured that the Lord knows and He will bring to pass all that He has laid out in His Word.
We are each in control of ourselves. Therefore, we must take the Word of God for ourselves personally and examine our own heart, our own life, our own actions, our own way of doing business. Our relationship with God is personal. No one can repent for us or be saved for us. Although we can (and should) intercede on behalf of others, we are each responsible to God for the way we choose to live out our own lives.
As born-again Christians, we have the Lord Jesus Christ living within us. We have been given the Holy Spirit, who is our Teacher, Counselor, and Guide. The Word of God is our road map for life, and the answer to every question in life can be found there. Therefore, in the midst of the sinful darkness of the world, we walk in Light! Hallelujah!
We have a Heavenly Father who knew us before we were born and planned every day of our lives. His Plan for us is good. We have been redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb of God, His Son, Jesus Christ. We have the Holy Spirit to teach, guide, and lead us every step of the way. He will tell us which way to turn and every word to speak.
When our life on this earth is over and the Lord calls us home, we will spend eternity with Him in the most glorious place called Heaven. What more could anyone ask for?
And so in the midst of a world of sin and darkness, let your light shine, my friends! Abide in Christ and trust in the Lord God Almighty, who is able to see you through every storm of life. He has promised that He will never leave you or forsake you.
We may not see the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord fill the entire earth as the waters cover the seas in our lifetime, but we can see the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord flood our entire being and be filled with the fruit of the Holy Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.
May the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord flood your entire being today, body, soul, and spirit as you walk in the Light of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The knowledge of the Glory of the Lord will…….. turn the tide
Abiding in Christ, Doreen
