Acts 20:19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews.
The Apostle Paul was a strong man of tremendous influence and God used him unlike any other in the formation of the early Church. Although he had great zeal and was outspoken, he was, at the same time, extremely humble. This is also an accurate description of the Man, Christ Jesus. He too was strong, driven, outspoken, direct, and powerful while remaining humble and reverent giving all credit to His Father in Heaven.
What an example for us! Humility is an attribute every Christian should aspire to. It is a must if one is to walk close to God. The Greek word for humility is tapeinophrosune. It means a lowliness of mind and the absence of pride.
To live a humble life is to not think highly of yourself. Yes, we all have accomplished things in our lives, but without Christ, we are nothing. We may have money, material goods, and great net worth, but without Christ, we are worthless.
The spirit and soul of a human being has no earthly worth and yet they will live forever. Money, power, prestige, and position will elevate a person in this world, but where will they spend eternity? Jesus spoke directly to this subject. If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the Glory of His Father with His Angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom. (Mark 16:24-28)
The Words you have just read are those of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I suggest you read them once again and take them to heart. God keeps His Promises. Jesus is coming back for His Church. We will stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ and give account for all that we have done for the Kingdom of God.
Are you willing to lay down your life for the sake of Jesus Christ? Will you deny yourself and follow Him? The things of this world are without value and will profit you nothing in the hereafter. Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit:” whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. (James 4:13-17)
Your life is nothing more than a bleep on the timeline of human history. Your spirit and soul will live forever.……… somewhere. Where is your somewhere?
Jesus is coming back to……..….turn the tide
Humbly His, Doreen
