Identity

Mark 10:50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

In Biblical times a person’s clothes, or garment, indicated their status in life. Bartimaeus was a blind beggar and his garment made that evident.

However, the moment Jesus called him out, Bartimaeus threw his garment aside! His healing was close at hand, and he was no longer going to be a blind beggar. Please note that he cast it aside BEFORE Jesus restored his sight. It was his Faith in Jesus that healed him.

We all have struggles in life that make life unbearable at times. Whatever it is, Jesus can bring healing, peace, comfort and deliverance if we will cast away the identifying garment.

Bartimaeus knew Jesus was going to heal him. He had no doubt about it. He didn’t care what the people in the crowd said. He was bound and determined for Jesus to hear him and see him. As soon as Jesus recognized him, he knew he would be healed.

Oh, to have that kind of Faith! The moment Bartimaeus cast away his garment, he took on a new identity. He would no longer submit to the identity of a blind beggar. Saved, healed, and delivered, Bartimaeus would be a totally new person with a new identity!

That’s what Jesus can do for every person and we give Him all the praise and glory!

Only Jesus can…...…..turn the tide

Thank you Jesus,      Doreen
