Habakkuk 2:10 You have consulted shame to your house by cutting off many people, and have sinned against your soul.
The Prophetic Vision given to Habakkuk illustrates an accurate picture of those who see themselves as elite. Those who believe that have reached a social status above that of the general population.
Yesterday, we discussed Verse 9 of this Chapter, which reads, Woe to him who covets an evil covetous nest to his house, that he may set his nest on high that he may be delivered from the power of evil.
The phrase, that he may set his nest on high that he may be delivered from the power of evil. Would indicate that these people see themselves “in a higher nest” above others. Verse 10 continues the description of the actions of these elitists.
When people think themselves to be better than others and place themselves in a position of elite, it is their status in life that controls their actions. It doesn’t matter to them how many lower-class people they destroy or even murder in the process.
They lie, cheat, and take out anyone who attempts to stand in their way or dares to reveal the truth about them.
This is exactly what we are seeing in America today. Certain people have become so powerful that they have placed themselves above the general population. They make the rules for the rest of us to live by, but make a completely different set of rules for themselves.
What we see happening today is exactly what our Founding Fathers warned against and the Word of God describes in detail. Verse by verse, Habakkuk paints the picture, but God says, Woe to these people. They will all eventually come to ruin. In Verse 10 we read that they have sinned against their own souls. ...have sinned against your soul. This means they have sold out their own soul for personal gain.
Let us look at a couple of other translations of this verse.
You have plotted the ruin of many peoples, shaming your own house and forfeiting your life. (NIV)
But by the murders you committed, you have shamed your name and forfeited your lives. (NLT)
It is clear, one cannot use and destroy people and expect God to bless them. God sees us all the same and judges us all with the same measure. Elitists may see us as peons, but God sees us in His Own Image! Give Him praise in your house today. You are a child of God, a child of the King of Kings. It is He who provides for us all things. Let us place our full trust in Him to accomplish that which the politicians and others strive to tear down.
It is He who will……..turn the tide
Trusting Him, Doreen
