Luke 5:10-11 And Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.
Peter, James, John, and all the men who worked with them had witnessed a tremendous miracle. With Jesus in the boat, they caught so many fish that their boats could hardly hold them. The result was that all their lives were changed.
While they were out in the deep water trying to keep their boats from sinking due to the great number of fish, Jesus said, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” From this day forward, their lives would never be the same. They would no longer fish for fish. From then on, they would be evangelists for Jesus seeking to catch the hearts of men.
It took a miracle for them to believe and become followers of Jesus. This is repeated over and over again throughout the Ministry of Jesus and recorded in the Four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These miracles resulted in multitudes of people being changed forever and becoming believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The miracles continued after the Crucifixion, Burial, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus. We read of many miracles throughout the entire New Testament, and in every case, the result was the same: many became believers and followers of Jesus.
It takes faith, courage, and obedience to say “Yes” to God, but when we do, our faith will build the faith of others. When people see what God CAN do, they want in on a piece of that Divine Action! I have heard so many people say, “If God can do that for you, He can do it for me.”
Yes He can and He wants to, but every person must take that all-important step in faith and say “Yes” to God. While God can reach a group of people all at once, He saves us each PERSONALLY. Our faith cannot save anyone else but ourselves. It is our witness and testimony that will cause faith to rise up in others, as the Holy Spirit draws them.
The men with Peter witnessed his faith and obedience, and although Peter’s faith was not great at first, because he was willing to allow Jesus to borrow his boat, take his crew, and launch out into the deep and let down his nets where he knew there were no fish, all of them were changed forever!
It took a miracle! We serve a miracle-working God. He is in the miracle business. That’s what God does; He performs miracles, and He wants to use you!
It will take a Miracle, but He can……..turn the tide
It took a Miracle, Doreen
