Matthew 24:2 And Jesus said to them, Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Jesus told His followers what was soon to come. After His Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension, the Church was birthed and Peter stepped forward as the leader at that time. He gave a powerful message to many thousands of Jews on the Day of Pentecost. As we have been studying for the past several days, his message was a call to repentance for God’s people.
The Holy Spirit gave Peter these words to speak because God knew of the coming destruction of the city and of the million Jews that would be killed at that time. The Lord poured out His Spirit on His people at that time and many came to Salvation. The exact same thing is happening now but few see it.
Jesus spoke of the times in which we now live. Matthew recorded His Words as did Luke. Although Jesus was speaking of the carnage that would come in the year 70 A.D. He was also speaking of what is going to happen in the very near future.
The battle that destroyed the Temple and killed over a million people in 70 A.D. affected God’s people at that time; the Jews. When this happens again, it will affect the entire world. At that time, the Jews were the apostate church. They were overcome with the spirit of religion and steeped in law. The church today is not much different. The spirit of religion runs rampant today and there is little true moving of the Holy Spirit of God. Believers have failed to rise up against it and so, it has become worse and worse.
The Church today is a parallel of the Church in 70 A.D. Jesus spoke in regard to what was to come then and now. Take heed as you read His Words. Then Jesus went out and departed from the Temple, and His Disciples came up to show Him the building of the Temple. And Jesus said to them, Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the Disciples came to Him privately, saying, Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age? And Jesus answered and said to them: Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My Name, saying, “I am the Christ,” and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations. For My Name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:1-13)
I pray you are able to see the parallel. It is evident that we are living in the times Jesus spoke about. I pray you are saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray your family is saved. The time is upon us.
It won’t be long now. God is soon to……….turn the tide
