It's All About Jesus

Luke 2:6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.

The most studied theologians have never been able to determine the exact day of Jesus' Birth. We celebrate it on December 25th, but it is doubtful that this is correct. Most are inclined to believe Jesus was born in September or October, but no one really knows for sure. God shares so many exact details with us in His Word, but this is one He has kept hidden from us. I wonder why?

God wants us to worship His Son, not the day He was born. Unfortunately, we do celebrate a day. We call it Christmas, but most people no longer associate this holiday with the Birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It's all about Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and spending money on gifts for each other. I wonder how God feels about all this?

Throughout the entire Bible (from Genesis to Revelation), God speaks of His Only Begotten Son. He was and is the greatest Gift to mankind, and yet we choose to sing about Santa Claus, Frosty, and Rudolph.

In the 11th Chapter of John, we read the story of Lazarus and his two sisters, Mary and Martha. These people were friends of Jesus. He loved them very much. In Verse 35 of this Chapter, we read the shortest verse in the entire Bible. It reads: Jesus wept.

Jesus wept over the death of his friend, Lazarus. Although Jesus knew He was going to raise Lazarus from the dead, He still wept. Why? Jesus wept over the sin that caused Lazarus' death and the sin of the entire world. He came to bring Light to the world, and yet, the world chooses to live in darkness.

I don't believe God intends for us to celebrate a day, be it Christmas, Easter, Passover, or any other day. God does expect His people to worship His Son, our Savior, who came in the flesh, died on the Cross of Calvary, was resurrected on the Third Day, and lives today at the Right Hand Throne of the Father in Heaven.

Let us look to this time of year not to celebrate a day, but as a celebration of the Birth of our Savior. As we do, I believe we will cause Jesus to smile down upon us and not weep.

It's all about Him, and only He can........turn the tide

I worship You, Jesus!      Doreen
