Jesus' Instructions

John 20:21 Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.

After His Resurrection and until He Ascended into Heaven, Jesus appeared to approximately five hundred people in a period of forty days. This is a proven fact of history. It is well documented and cannot be disproved. During this time, Jesus spoke some very profound Words none of which should be overlooked or discounted.

All four of the Gospels contain the Words of Jesus as well as written accounts of some of the Miracles, Signs, and Wonders He performed while on Earth. Many of these Miracles were performed AFTER He was Resurrected. These things occurred during the forty-day period between His Resurrection and His Ascension.

Jesus instructed the believers in what they were to do after He left to be with the Father. On their own, they could do nothing, but with the Holy Spirit as their Teacher, Guide, Counselor, and overall Helper, they could do anything! We know these Divine Instructions as The Great Commission. All four Gospel writers include a part of it in their writings.

Matthew concluded his Book with these Words of Jesus: And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on Earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have Commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Mark recorded Jesus as saying: And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My Name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. (Mark 16:15-18)

Luke wrote: Then He said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem And you are witnesses of these things. Behold I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with Power from on high. (Luke 24:46-47)

John simply wrote the following: So Jesus said to them again, Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you. (John 20:21)

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all wrote about that forty-day time period after Jesus was raised from the dead. The Words of Jesus during this time were instructions as to how to proceed and continue His Ministry on Earth after His Ascension. These Words were not for those people alone but for all believers for all time. That includes us! As believers in the Finished Work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary, all these Words pertain to every one of us.

Do you know what Jesus said? Do you understand that every Word pertains to you? He gave you your marching orders. Are you walking in obedience to His Commands? I highly suggest you do so. Time is short. Do what you have been told.

God is about to……….turn the tide

I hear you, Lord.         Doreen
