Isaiah 53:2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out o a dry ground; He has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.
It is believed that Isaiah was given this Prophecy in the year 712 B.C. His Prophecy speaks of the coming Messiah who would be born and appear as a common person but would eventually be the "root" of God's Redemption Plan for all of mankind.
The "dry ground" spoken of in this Prophecy represents Israel and the entire world. Prior to the Birth of Christ, the land had become spiritually parched for the lack of the Spirit of God. Like cracked, barren land after many years of drought, God's people were dying of thirst.
However, God's Redemption Plan for mankind would soon take shape in the form of a poor peasant boy born to a carpenter and his young wife. Unaccepted by the religious aristocracy, Jesus would be born and grow up exactly as Isaiah Prophesied 700 years prior.
Jesus was the Perfect Son of God, and the Religious people hated Him. As Prophesied in the third verse, He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.
In short, the religious leadership of that time hated Him. He was not what they were expecting. They knew the Prophesies of Old by heart and yet they still expected the Messiah to come in full regalia. They were wrong; horribly wrong, and they did everything they could to cause Him grief. He was indeed despised and rejected by men. He was a man of sorrows and well acquainted with pain, suffering, temptation and grief. The religious leadership had absolutely no respect for Him whatsoever.
Jesus was God's Own Son, sent by the Father to be the ransom for the sins of all people. He was and is God's Redemption Plan. He was born with one purpose: To die on the Cross of Calvary in order that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Hallelujah!
The people of that day were living in the most exciting time in history to that point. They had studied about the Coming Messiah their whole lives, and He would be born during their lifetime. And yet, when it happened, they hated Him.
Jesus was pure Holiness; Perfect in every way. The people, even the richest and most highly respected in the synagogue, were pure corruption and evil. They did not want to repent and turn from their wicked ways. They wanted a King who would accept them exactly as they were; a King who would pat them on the back as they did each other.
The Messiah was in their midst, and they chose to reject Him. Does this sound familiar? How many people today have heard the Gospel Message and rejected it? How many refuse to believe they need Jesus because they have all they need without Him? How many seek fame and fortune instead of Salvation, Healing, and the Deliverance of God?
As it was in the days of Jesus' Birth, so it is now. Most people today have heard the Name of Jesus. They probably have a Holy Bible in their home, but few have ever read it or accepted Jesus as their personal Savior.
He is coming back. Time is short. God is waiting for more to come into the fold. How long will He wait? We do not know. I pray you are ready.
One day soon, He will........turn the tide
Ready, Doreen
