Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory save in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
The Holy Spirit gave to the Apostle Paul the Message of the New Covenant. Although Jesus had been born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, performed thousands of Miracles, Crucified, buried, Resurrected, and Ascended into Heaven, no one really understood the New Covenant, until it was introduced by the Apostle Paul.
All the people knew was the Law and although Jesus told them that He did not come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. (Matthew 5:17) they simply did not understand what He meant. Not even the Apostles fully understood Him. They believed in Him, but they did not understand because of their prior teaching and thousands of years of religion, rituals and history.
Unfortunately, people still don’t understand it to this day. Jesus did not come to destroy the Law or to do away with it. He came to fulfill it and He accomplished this when He willingly gave His Life on the Cross of Calvary. The moment He said, It is finished. (John 19:30) and gave up His Spirit, all the Old Testament Laws were fulfilled except the original Moral Laws found in the Ten Commandments given to Moses.
Jesus fulfilled all the Sacrificial, Dietary, Relational, and Financial laws of the Old Covenant which totally controlled and dictated the everyday lives of the people. There was an aspect of the Law that pertained to every portion of their lives. It was a controlling force that kept them in bondage. Jesus came to fulfill all these laws and set the people free from the bondage of religion, rules, rituals, and regulations.
Jesus did not bring with Him the New Covenant between the people and God; He IS the New Covenant. He IS the fulfillment of the Law. He IS the Way. He IS the Truth of the Word of God made manifest. He IS the ONLY source of Life. Jesus IS THE NEW COVENANT.
The Words of the Prophets and the entire Old Testament is a picture of the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ. He IS the fulfillment of every Prophecy ever spoken. When God sent His Son (Jesus) to earth as a man, He sent the fulfillment and final answer to every law, rule, regulation, ritual and scheme of the enemy to rob people of their freedom through Salvation.
When Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me. (John 14:6) He meant exactly what He said. He did not say, I bring the Way, or I am here to show you the Way, or teach you about the Way. He said, I AM THE WAY. Jesus IS the New Covenant. He was when He walked this earth as a man and He is today as He sits at the Right Hand of the Father in Heaven making intercession for you and me.
Everything we have has come to us by way of the shed Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. He gave His All so we can have it all. To Him be all glory, honor, and praise. We are deserving of no glory. Thus the song, To God be the glory, great things He hath done! Hallelujah! Give Him ALL the praise today!
