Jesus The Rock

Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the Power that works in us.

Our study of the many Names/Titles given to Jesus in the Bible has brought a much broader understanding of everything Jesus means to us. He is literally our everything; our all in all. Without Him we are nothing. Without Him we have nothing. He is God in every sense of the word. He is the Word of God made manifest. He is absolutely everything we could ever hope for. Now to Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the Power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20)

Throughout the Bible we find Jesus being referred to as the ROCK. This descriptive Title is given to Jesus many times and paints several different pictures. Jesus is the Solid Rock that cannot be moved. No matter what people may say or do, Jesus will stand firm. Nothing will cause Him to sway. Nor will He ever be defeated. He is the Foundation (Cornerstone) upon which we are to build our lives.

As you read the following sampling of Scriptures depicting Jesus as the ROCK, pray for the Holy Spirit to teach you more about Jesus. As we discussed yesterday, there is always more to learn about Him.

1 Corinthians 10:4 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

Matthew 7:24-25 Everyone then who hears these Words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the Rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the Rock.

1 Samuel 2:2 No one is Holy like the Lord, for there is none besides You, nor is there any Rock like our God.

Numbers 20:11 Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the Rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.

Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, His Work is perfect; for all His Ways are justice, a God of Truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.

2 Samuel 22:2 The Lord is my Rock and my fortress and my deliverer;

2 Samuel 22:47 The Lord lives! Blessed by my Rock! Let God be exalted, the Rock of my Salvation.

Psalms 18:46 The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my Salvation be exalted.

Psalms 28:1 To You I will cry, O Lord my Rock: Do not be silent to me, lest, if you are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit.

Psalms 31:2-3 Bow down Your ear to me, Deliver me speedily; be my Rock of refuge, a fortress of defense to save me. For You are my Rock and my Fortress; therefore, for Your Name’s sake, lead me and guide me.

Psalms 144:1 Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle.

I cannot close this Morning Message without sharing some of the lyrics of three of the greatest hymns ever written.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord, a wonderful Savior to me; He hideth my soul in the Cleft of the Rock, where rivers of pleasure I see.

Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee; Let the Water and the Blood, from Thy wounded side which flowed. Be of sin the double cure, Save from wrath, and make me pure.

Jesus, the ROCK, will………..turn the tide……..in this dark and evil world.

Standing on the ROCK.          Doreen
